BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Camp Burnt Gin is a residential summer camping program for children and teens who have physical disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. Located in Sumter County, Camp Burnt Gin offers children who have special health care needs the opportunity to meet new friends, become more independent, develop recreational and social skills and improve their self-esteem. The overnight sessions are six days in length. Activities include swimming, boating, arts and crafts, nature activities, fine arts and sports and games. All activities are adapted to enable children of all ability levels to participate.
SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPERS: Camp Burnt Gin serves children with a wide variety of physical disabilities and chronic illnesses.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Fine Arts/Crafts, Basketball, Swimming, and more. Camp Burnt Gins Offers A Traditional Camp Experience. Activities Include: Swimming, Boating, Nature Study, Games, Fine Arts, Crafts.
CAMP LOCATION: Camp Burnt Gin is located on 32 acres in the Manchester State Forest in Sumter County SC. Camp Burnt Gin is 40 miles east of Columbia.
CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Burnt Gin has 10 accessible cabins, a swimming pool, dining hall, sports field, camp out area, arts and crafts and nature hut, library, and a lake for boating and fishing.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Burnt Gin offers a close staff to camper ratio. The counselors are responsible for the supervision and the daily care of the campers. They assist the children with their adjustment to camp life, participation in camp activities and any medical or personal care needs. Three nurses are in residence and are responsible for medication administration, first aid and overseeing any medical treatments.
Camp Burnt Gin's mission is to enhance the quality of life for children with special health care need by providing a camp experience designed to improve self-esteem, independence and the skills necessary to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Camp Burnt Gin is accredited by the American Camp Association.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Camp Burnt Gin offers four six day sessions for children, 7-15 years of age; two six-day sessions for teens, 16-20 years of age and a four day camp for young adults, 21-25 year of age.
SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Camp Burnt Gin hires college age staff to work as camp counselors from June until August. For further information, visit our website.
